The competition is made up of two, twenty target courses and with each target having a possibility of 5, 8 or 10 points, or 0 for a miss. The distance the archer shoots from varies with the category.

On Saturday each contestant started out in random groups of 3–5 archers to complete both the courses. Once their scorecards were handed in for the day the archers were put into groups according to their age and the category they were competing in. On Sunday the newly assigned groups again completed the two, twenty target courses.

The top contestant in each of the adult categories were invited to represent B.C. in the National 3D Archery Championships in Saskatchewan.
